Former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijaybhai Rupani has also passed away in a plane crash in Ahmedabad. Yesterday, on Monday, 16.06.2025, his mortal remains were brought to Rajkot and later cremated with full state honours and he passed away. Today, Tuesday, a prayer meeting was organized at the Race Course Ground in Rajkot from 3 to 6 pm. Thousands of people, both famous and anonymous, joined this prayer meeting and paid their respects to Vijaybhai.

Leaders including Arvindbhai Maniar’s wife Hansikaben, MLAs Rivaba Jadeja, Geetaba Jadeja, former MLA Jayaraj Singh, former Finance Minister Vajubhai Vala, Padma Shri Hemant Chauhan, comedian Dhirubhai Sarvaiya, folk writer Rajbha Gadhvi, Khajurbhai and others met the members of the Rupani family and offered their condolences.

Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Gujarat AAP state president Yesudan Gadhvi also reached the prayer meeting and paid their respects to the former Chief Minister. Kejriwal met the Rupani family members and offered condolences.Folk writers Rajbha Gadhvi and Nitin Jani (Khajurbhai) attended the Rajkot prayer meeting and paid tribute to the former Chief Minister.

Former Gondal MLA Jayarajsinh Jadeja said on this occasion that the demise of former Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has caused a great loss not only to his family but also to the entire Saurashtra-Kutch and Gujarat. His relationship with Vijay Rupani was like that of a younger brother and Rupani contributed greatly in shaping him politically. He worked shoulder to shoulder with the smallest workers and gave priority to development works in Saurashtra, Kutch and Gujarat. Rupani had a natural affinity especially with the Gondal region and during his tenure, Gondal was gifted with many development works.
