The state has witnessed a good rainy season. Today, a red alert has been issued in Ahmedabad, Anand, Bharuch, Surendranagar, Bhavnagar, Botad, Porbandar, Junagadh due to heavy rain. While heavy to very heavy rain has been predicted in Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Kheda, Vadodara, Surat, Navsari, Valsad, Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Amreli, Morbi, Dwarka, Gir Somnath and Kutch. Following the heavy rain in the state, an emergency meeting was called in Gandhinagar. CM Bhupendra Patel reviewed the alertness and preparedness of the system and gave necessary suggestions. On the other hand, a holiday has been ordered in all schools in Bhavnagar and Botad tomorrow.

Five people are missing after an eco car overturned in Botad’s Lathidard due to heavy rains. A search is underway for them. While two people have died in two separate car collision incidents between Utiya-Rajparda in Rajula and Kundal village in Babra. On the other hand, all 59 gates of Shetrunji Dam in Bhavnagar have been opened up to one foot due to overflowing.The Meteorological Department has predicted rain in the state for the next 7 days. In which a low pressure system has been activated at present. And heavy to very heavy rain has been predicted for the next 7 days. In which a red alert has been given in Ahmedabad, Anand, Bharuch, Surendranagar, Bhavnagar, Botad, Porbandar and Junagadh. Along with this, heavy to very heavy rain has been predicted in Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Kheda, Vadodara, Surat, Navsari, Valsad, Daman, Dadra Nagar Haveli, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Amreli, Morbi, Dwarka, Gir Somnath and Kutch. In addition, fishermen have been instructed not to venture into the sea.
