Swarupji Thakor BJP Candidate: There has been a long wait for the names of the candidates for the Vav assembly seat. At the last minute, both the parties have announced the names of their candidates. Today, the Congress named Gulab Singh Rajput as the candidate for the Vav seat. After that, BJP also stamped the name of Swaroopji Thakor as its candidate, and the picture of the election for the Vav seat has become clear.
9 people were first advised by BJP, the mandate was given at the last minute. The strategy of Congress was also similar. But while Congress announced its candidate, BJP fielded Swaroopji, so no one else has to fill the form. There is talk of even displeased people being persuaded.
In the year 2022, Swaroopji contested the election against Geniben
Swaroopji Thakor contested against Geniben Thakor in the assembly elections held on Vav seat in the year 2022. In which he was defeated. Ganiben Thakor got 102513 votes, while Swarupji Thakor got 86912 votes. That is, Swaroopji lost to Thakor Ganiben by 15,601 votes.
Swaroopji is the leader of the Thakor community
Swaroopji is a resident of Beok village in Thakor Vav taluka. He has also been the regional vice president of Thakor Sena. Swarupji Thakor contested the Lok Sabha elections as an independent candidate from Banaskantha seat in the year 2019. In which he got 48,634 votes.
Political journey of Gulab Singh Rajput
Congress may give ticket to former Tharad MLA Gulab Singh Rajput from Vav seat keeping in mind the caste equations. He became the winner in the by-election held in 2019. He has also worked as the Gujarat State President of Yuva Congress and NSUI. Gulab Singh Rajput inherited politics. Dada Hemabhai Rajput had been an MLA for 20 years when the Vav-Tharad assembly was assembled.
Elections will be held on November 13 on the Vav seat
In Lok Sabha Election 2024, there was an alliance between Congress and Aam Aadmi Party in the state. In which Aam Aadmi Party contested two out of 26 seats Bharuch and Bhavnagar, while Congress fielded candidates in all the remaining 24 seats. However, Surat seat being uncontested, Congress contested on 23 seats. Geniben Thakor, who was the MLA from Vav, won the Banaskantha seat in the Lok Sabha elections. Out of 26 seats in Gujarat, one seat went to Congress, which is Banaskantha seat.
Banaskantha got a woman MP in 62 years
Barely 30 km from Pakistan border. There was a huge fight in the distant Banaskantha Lok Sabha seat. Two women are facing each other on this Lok Sabha seat of Gujarat. It was a battle between Geniben Thakor of Congress and Rekhaben Chowdhury of BJP and finally Banaskantha got a woman MP after 62 years defeating Geniben. For the first time since 1962, a woman will get a chance to enter Parliament from the Banaskantha seat. In 1962, Zohraben Chavda was elected as an MP on a Congress ticket.
Ganiben Thakor has won the assembly elections twice
Ganiben Thakor’s full name is Ganiben Nagaji Thakor, she is an active woman politician in Congress. He has studied upto standard 12th. In the 2012 Gujarat Assembly elections, he contested from Vav assembly constituency but was defeated. After this again in 2017, he contested the Gujarat Assembly elections as a Congress party candidate from Vav constituency and won with a margin of 6,655 votes. He was re-elected from the Vav seat in the 2022 Gujarat Assembly elections.
