The CBI conducted a massive raid in Madhya Pradesh’s Singroli district on Sunday. Officials and suppliers associated with Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL) have been targeted under investigation into alleged financial irregularities. The action comes after the arrest of a DSP of CBI’s Jabalpur unit on Saturday night. He is accused of alleged involvement with some NCL officials who are under suspicion. The CBI team raided the NCL following the evidence found after the arrest of the DSP. Meanwhile, cash worth lakhs of rupees has been found. In this case, the CBI also conducted raids in Noida and Meerut on Monday. According to sources, during the raid on Sunday, the CBI has found illegal assets worth around five crore rupees. 4 Crores worth of cash is included in the premises. The premises raided also include the houses of NCL CMD B Sairam’s personal assistant Subedar Ojha, NCL’s senior security officer BK Singh and NCL’s main supplier Ravi Singh. In fact, there were reports that Singh was arrested. But this news has not been officially confirmed. Kotwali police admitted him to the hospital after he complained of illness. Singh, a major supplier of expensive machinery and equipment to NCL, has a large stake in Sigroli. 30 CBI officers were involved in this action. The agency has not issued any official statement on the ongoing probe so far. Notably, the DSP is the fifth official arrested by the CBI within three months. Earlier, in the investigation of the nursing scam, the CBI had arrested its own officers in a bribery case.
