The first choice train of Indian commuters is slowly becoming a haven for anti-social elements due to the negligence of Railway Babu. The railway facility that was started to facilitate the movement of people between different cities has today become the safest means of smuggling narcotics for bootleggers and drug peddlers. In the last one and a half month, 2.55 lakh worth of liquor, ganja was seized from the train and Ahmedabad railway station. Also, it has been recorded in the police book that a total of 26.29 lakhs worth of items including mobiles and cash have been stolen.
Chuk Chuk the carriage turned into a den of anti-social elements:
In just one and a half month from August 1 to September 17, 37 cases of theft of goods including 18 bags of liquor, 37 cases of theft of mobile phones and two cases of possession of ganja have been registered at the police station. Of course, these are thieves on the loose, apart from this, many times more anti-social acts are taking place in the train. Thus there are two forces namely RPF and Railway Police for the safety of passengers. However, now people are gradually feeling insecure while traveling by train. A complaint has been registered in the railway police that many bags containing 15.78 lakh worth of items have been stolen from Ahmedabad and Asarwa railway stations including various local and express trains in one and a half months. In which cash, laptop, charger, digital camera, gold and silver jewellery, identity card and necessary documents were stolen by the smugglers. Especially the sleeping passengers in the Gathiya train are targeted by the bags kept under their seats and the matta kept in their pockets or wallets. Thieves get an open field when the train stops and passengers go to the washroom or buy food at the station. Then, even from the Vandbharat train, which is considered to be the safest and most comfortable for passengers, the incident became the center of discussion when the trolley bag of a youth from Bhopal coming to Ahmedabad from Mumbai was stolen on August 31. Not only that, three two-wheelers worth 85 thousand parked in the premises of the railway station were stolen.
3 phones worth 1.03 lakh belonging to three youths were stolen:
Ganja is often found in trains, but most of the time the accused are not caught. As the police and railways lie dormant, peddlers openly smuggle ganja and drugs through trains. The police also seize the drug by taking action to meet the target in the year. On last August 5, 04.964 kg of ganja worth 49 thousand was found in an unclaimed condition from the Ahmedabad Puri Express train. It is to be noted that ganja worth lakhs of rupees has been found many times before from the Puri Express train. But since every time the police are found in uninherited condition, the citizens are raising questions against the police system. Also, on September 9, two men from Orissa brought 19.225 kg of ganja worth 1.62 lakhs from Orissa to Ahmedabad by train, but the police did not come to know about it.
