Shilpa Shetty, Isha Koppikar, Preity Zinta, Bipasha Basu, Lara Dutta: 5 Leading Ladies We Want to See Back on the Big Screen in 2025

Bollywood has been blessed with some truly remarkable actresses who have left an irreplaceable mark on Indian cinema. While some have taken extended breaks from the silver screen, their absence has only made our hearts grow fonder. Here are five stunning actresses whose potential comebacks or project announcements in 2025 have us counting down the days until we see them light up theaters once again.

Shilpa Shetty
Shilpa made a splashy comeback with Hungama 2 in 2021 after over a decade away from films. She followed it up with Nikamma in 2022, but can we be brutally honest and say we’re still waiting for the film that truly does justice to her star power. It’s been a quiet spell since then, and fans are eager to see Shilpa headline a role that captures her signature sass, grace, and strength. The screen’s been missing her sparkle.

Isha KoppikarIsha’s rather impressive range of filmography is one reason why we will seeing her on the big screen. Whether it was her fierce turn in Company or her softer side in Ek Vivaah Aisa Bhi, or even her impeccable comedic timing in films like Kya Kool Hai Hum, Isha brought both fire and finesse and sass to every role. She’s been low-key for a while now, but in an era that embraces strong female narratives, and a film in that genre from Isha, feels overdue.

Preity Zinta
Preity, with her infectious smile and natural acting talents, has been away from the big screen for far too long. After her last release in 2018, she shifted her focus to her business ventures and her IPL team Punjab Kings (formerly Kings XI Punjab). The actress who gave us unforgettable performances in Dil Chahta Hai, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Veer-Zaara, and Lakshya has a unique ability to bring authenticity and charm to every role and we can’t wait for Preity’s next release! Yes, the lady will soon be returning to the big screens with Lahore 1947.

Lara Dutta
Lara’s transformation into Indira Gandhi in Bell Bottom was so good, it had people doing double takes. But with theaters still recovering post-COVID, her stellar performance didn’t quite get the mainstream spotlight it deserved. And while she has Welcome To The Jungle scheduled for a December 2025 release, we only have one burning thought in our minds – December is too far a wait to see her back on screen!

Bipasha Basu
Bipasha’s last theatrical release was her horror film Alone in 2015, and that movie only justified her positioning as Bollywood’s scream queen. While she carved a niche for herself in the thriller and horror genre, her versatility extended far beyond horror, as proven by her performances in movies like Corporate, No Entry, Dhoom 2 and Race. With her striking screen presence and acting ability, Bipasha’s return to the big screen, would be a welcome addition to contemporary Bollywood, especially in an era where strong female characters are taking center stage.

These aren’t just actresses, but icons of their time. And while the industry keeps evolving, there’s always room for talent that stands the test of time, here’s hoping 2025 gives each of these ladies the cinematic moment they deserve.
