
Virat Kohli has retired from Test cricket. Kohli wrote on Instagram on Monday – Test cricket has tested me, shaped me, taught me lessons that I will remember for the rest of my life. Virat Kohli had told the BCCI on May 10 that I want to retire from Test cricket. The BCCI had asked Kohli to reconsider his decision. On May 11, a board official spoke to him. Virat Kohli has played 123 Test matches, in which he has scored 30 centuries and 31 half-centuries. Virat has scored 7 double centuries. He was selected as the Test Player of the Year in 2017 and 2018. Virat wrote, ‘I wore the baggy blue jersey for the first time in Test cricket 14 years ago. Honestly, I never imagined that this format would take me on such a journey. It tested me, defined me, and taught me lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. Playing in the white jersey is a very special and personal experience for me. The hard work, the long days, the small moments that no one sees, but they always stay with you. As I move away from this format, it is not easy, but it feels right for now. I have given my all and it has given me more than I expected. I am grateful for the game, for the people on the field and for everyone who has supported me on this journey. I will always look back on my Test career with a smile. He wrote his jersey number ‘269’ on the front and wrote ‘Signing off’. BCCI thanked Virat Kohli. The board wrote- An era in Test cricket has ended, but the legacy will continue.
