An unidentified person has insulted the Constitution in Maharashtra’s Parbhani, due to which violence has broken out at many places. The mob has pelted stones at the police, while arson has been committed at many places. The people protesting are demanding the death penalty for those who insulted the Constitution.

The police are trying to control the situation and have fired tear gas shells at the people pelting stones. Due to the current tense situation, police convoys have been deployed at many places. Apart from this, protests have also started in Hingoli, on which the police are keeping a close watch. Amid the incident, Bahujan Aghadi chief Prakash Ambedkar has reacted. He said, ‘In Parbhani, casteist Maratha miscreants have mocked the Indian Constitution on the statue of Babasaheb, which is extremely despicable and shameful. This is not the first time, before this too, such vandalism has been done on the statue of Babasaheb or the symbol of Dalit identity.’ He said, ‘As soon as the incident was reported in Parbhani district, VBA workers reached first. Due to the protest of our workers here, the police have registered an FIR and arrested one of the miscreants. I appeal to everyone to maintain law and order. If the miscreants are not arrested within the next 24 hours, then serious consequences will have to be faced.’

Why did violence break out in Parbhani?

According to the information received, an unknown person damaged the replica of the Constitution kept near the statue of Babasaheb Ambedkar outside the Parbhani railway station on Tuesday. After this, the incident of arson and stone pelting has started. Many organizations have been outraged by the insult to the Constitution and have called for a bandh in many cities. However, during the bandh, people suddenly got agitated and started setting fire to many places. After this, the situation became uncontrollable and the police fired tear gas shells.
