The government is fully prepared to provide solutions related to travel related isolation. On Sunday, the Ministry of Health informed about a suspected case of monkeypox. This person had returned to India from abroad. The government said the patient has been kept in hospital isolation and his condition is stable. A health ministry statement said that patient samples are being tested to confirm monkeypox status as well as to make an accurate diagnosis based on symptoms. “The situation is being managed using established protocols, and contact tracing is advised to identify possible symptoms and assess the impact within the country,” the ministry said. This is in line with the risk assessment conducted by the National Center for Disease, so there is no room for any unnecessary worry. Monkeypox was declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) for the second time last month, with cases of monkeypox increasing in many African countries. , since WHO declared PHEIC in 2022, India has reported 30 cases of the disease. The last case infected with it was reported in March this year. According to an earlier statement by the World Health Organization, 99,176 cases of monkeypox have been reported in 116 countries since 2022, of which 208 people have died. The number of infected people increased significantly last year. The number of cases reported so far this year has surpassed last year’s total.
