Tension spread over the demolition of the illegal construction of the Mehboob-e-Subhaniya Masjid in Mumbai’s Dharavi. A team of BMC arrived to demolish this illegal section but the crowd created a ruckus and started agitating on the road. It is reported that a crowd of people vandalized the cars of the municipality that came to take action. A heavy police force has been deployed at the scene. In fact, the 25-year-old Subhania Masjid on 90 feet road in Dharavi, Mumbai was declared illegal by the BMC and was to be demolished today. Even before the action of the BMC officials, the people of the Muslim community came out on the roads from last night and created a chakkajam-like situation. The people of the Muslim community say that this mosque is ages old.
Chief Minister’s assurance to stop demolishing the mosque…!
Mumbai North Central MP Prof. Varsha Gaikwad said that we had a meeting with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and informed him about the demolition notice received by BMC for this mosque in Dharavi. The Chief Minister gave us a positive reply. He has said that keeping in mind the sentiments of the people, he will communicate with the authorities and the action of demolishing the mosque will also be stopped.
