The Champions Trophy will be organized in hybrid model only. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has now come to the conclusion that the tournament should be organized on the basis of hybrid model only. India will play all its matches in Dubai. According to a top ICC source, this decision was finalized during an informal meeting between the new chairman Jay Shah and the representative of Pakistan and the board of directors at the ICC headquarters in Dubai on Thursday. All parties have agreed in principle that the 2025 Champions Trophy will be held in the UAE and Pakistan.

Pakistan agrees to hybrid model!
Pakistan had withdrawn its threat to boycott the ICC meeting last week. After that, Pakistan agreed to the hybrid model. And demanded such an arrangement for itself by 2031. However, the ICC has agreed to a hybrid model for all its tournaments till 2027. Meanwhile, India will jointly host the Women’s ODI World Cup in October next year and the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup with Sri Lanka. Even if the hybrid model does not come into effect, Pakistan cannot be forced to come to India for the tournament to be held in 2026. The source said that Pakistan will play its matches in Sri Lanka during the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup. The compensation demanded by the PCB for organizing the Champions Trophy in the hybrid model is still under consideration.

Finally, Pakistan had to give in:
The schedule of the Champions Trophy has not been announced yet. The biggest reason for this is the ongoing standoff between India and Pakistan. The BCCI had already informed the ICC that the Indian team will not tour Pakistan. On the other hand, Pakistan was not ready to agree to the hybrid model at any cost. Last week, in the ICC meeting, Pakistan had said that it would reject the hybrid model. After that, the ICC gave Pakistan an ultimatum. After this, Pakistan had to bow down and accept the ICC’s instructions. Now, the ICC may soon announce the tournament schedule.
