During the ongoing winter session of Parliament, the controversy has increased over the statement made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in the Rajya Sabha on Dr. Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar. On Wednesday, the opposition created a ruckus in the House over this issue. Opposition MPs allege that the Union Home Minister insulted Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in his speech on Tuesday. Now political reactions have also surfaced regarding this controversy. Congress has said that Amit Shah should resign and apologize for the statement he made. Congress President and Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge had said, ‘Amit Shah has insulted Ambedkar. We demand his resignation. Shah should apologize to the people of the country. When Amit Shah was talking about Baba Saheb, he said, “If you had taken the name of God as many times as you take Ambedkar, you would have reached heaven 7 times. That is, taking the name of Baba Saheb is a crime. At that time, I tried to stop him from speaking by raising my hand, but I did not get a chance to speak. The Constitution made by Baba Saheb Ambedkar was being discussed, so we remained silent.”

India will not tolerate insult to Baba Saheb – Arvind Kejriwal:
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal shared a video on ‘X’ and wrote, “Look how Amit Shahji is making fun of Baba Saheb Ambedkar in Parliament. BJP people have become so arrogant that they do not believe in anyone. Yes, Amit Shahji, Baba Saheb is no less than God for the children of this country. I don’t know if there is heaven after death, but if it were not for this constitution of Babasaheb, you people would not have allowed the oppressed, Dalit, and poor to live on this earth. India will not tolerate insults to Babasaheb. Jai Bhim.’

Chandrashekhar said, taking the name of Babasaheb is not a ‘fashion’:
Azad Samaj Party (Kashiram) chief and Lok Sabha MP Chandrashekhar Azad said that Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement is an insult to the historical contribution of respected Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar ji and his struggle for social justice. Taking the name of Babasaheb is not a ‘fashion’, but a symbol of the revolution of equality, freedom, and social change, which gave justice and rights to crores of deprived and Dalit people.’

What did Amit Shah say about Babasaheb in the Rajya Sabha? :
In fact, when Union Home Minister Amit Shah participated in the debate on the Constitution in the Rajya Sabha, while replying to the opposition, he made a statement on Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and said, ‘Now it has become a fashion. Ambedkar, Ambedkar, Ambedkar… If you had taken so many names of God, you would have got heaven for 7 births. This is a good thing. We are happy that you are taking Ambedkar’s name. Now take Ambedkar’s name 100 more times. But what is your feeling towards Ambedkar ji? This is what I want to tell you. Why did Ambedkar ji have to resign from the first cabinet of the country? Ambedkar ji had said many times that I am dissatisfied with the treatment of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. I do not agree with the government’s foreign policy. I do not agree with Article 370. Due to which he had to leave the cabinet. He was assured. But it was not completed. He resigned from the cabinet due to constant sidelining.
