The fees for studying MBBS in Medical has been increased drastically. Today, doctors, medical students and parents from across the state reached the collector’s office to present. Doctors say that the fee increase is so much that now only students with money can study medicine. When a student said that these people are doing business. One crore fee will be done.

The fee for MBBS in Medical has been hiked recently. Fees have been increased by almost 80 percent. Fees have been hiked where students are yet to be counselled. Government Quota fee has been increased from 3.50 lakhs to 5.50 lakhs in one year fee by GMERS. The management quota fee has been increased from 9 lakhs to 17 lakhs. In this regard, parents and doctors in Ahmedabad made a presentation to the Collector’s office.

The fee was increased by 80 percent
A member of Ahmedabad’s Wali Mandal said that the fee has been increased by 80 percent. All of a sudden this kind of fee has been increased so how can the students study and presented to the collector today. After that we will present to MLAs and MPs. Our only demand is that the fee should be reduced.

Parents and students also protested in Surat
Due to the unbearable fee hike in GMERS colleges by the state government, middle class students face many difficulties to study MBBS. Students and parents are protesting against this in Surat as well. In this matter, the students and parents presented to the Chief Minister and said that now it is time to sell the house or property and educate the children. Parents and students also reached the Surat office to present to the Collector.

Fees for private, management quota and NRI quota seats in 13 medical colleges of GMERS as well as state medical colleges including Surat have been hiked. One year fee for private seats in medical colleges increased from Rs.3.30 lakh to Rs. 5.50 lakh has been made. While one year fee of management quota is Rs. 9.07 lakh increased from Rs. 17 lakhs and one year fee of NRI quota is Rs. 22 thousand US dollars increased to Rs. 25 thousand US dollars has been made. Thus, the fee for private seats has been increased by 67%, the fee for management quota seats by 87% and the fee for NRI quota seats by 14%.

Letter to the Chief Minister
One is that due to the malpractices in the NEET examination during this year, the cut off merit which has gone up very high, the students have not yet got the justice. There this fee increase acts as salt on the wound. Parents and students of Surat have written a letter to Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel through the students and parents of Surat, demanding to reduce the PM. He has also presented about how he can pay such a fee in his difficulties and inflation.

So the property has to be sold
Wali Girishbhai said that due to the way the fee has increased, it is time to sell the property. Too much fee increase will not fulfill the dream of doctor of poor and middle class students. If two children of the same family are studying in a medical college, then it is impossible to imagine what will happen to the financial status of that parent. Along with the fee increase, the government has suddenly increased the fee without considering the annual income of the guardian. Therefore, we demand that the Gujarat government immediately withdraw the fee increase and keep the same fee as it was last year. Five years fee will be 1 crore.

In Ahmedabad, parents protested over the fee
Middle class students cannot become doctors
Wali Jijnaben said that the demand for doctors has increased according to today’s times. Then the government wants to prove that the right to become a doctor is not for the poor or the middle class by increasing the fees instead of increasing the government seats. But is for the rich. It is our humble request that, so that the poor and middle class students can also become doctors and do their duty to make the society healthy, we submit that cancel this sudden fee increase and keep the same fee as last year.

These people do business
Student Mehek said, My score is 4.75. The way the fee has been increased now. Due to this, the five-year course will cost one crore rupees. GMERS had 170 seats earlier which has been reduced to 150. 20 seats are allotted to management quota. These people do business. Two years of our hard work, our dream, nothing is visible now. I worked so hard but I don’t think I will get admission in the college I was supposed to take admission in.

Difficulty increased for us
Another student Rishi Mistry said, I am a NEET candidate. My score is 505. I get admission in a private college. According to last year’s cut off, the problem is that the fee for gymesh, which was approximately three and a half lakhs, has been reduced to five and a half lakhs. Private college fees will also be increased. Which is very problematic for students and parents. MD and MS courses are still pending.

Students in Surat are confused about the fee hike
Seek withdrawal of fee hike
Becoming a doctor was already very expensive. Now, with the increase in fees in GMERS-run medical colleges in Gujarat, becoming a doctor has become a dream for students from normal families. Because GMERS last week fees in various quota for the academic year 2024-25
