Indians cross Canadian border to enter US, up to 47,000 caught in 2024

Usually, Indians used to choose the Mexican border to illegally enter the US, but now various reports say that there has been an increase in the influx of Indians from the Canadian border to enter the US. With the increasing cost and congestion at the border of Mexico and El Salvador, Indians are now seen trying to enter the US illegally from the Canadian border. Generally, Indians who want to enter the US illegally try to enter the US through Mexico or El Salvador. There has been a decline in the number of Indians trying to enter the US from here. However, Bolivia still has visas on arrival, so many take chances here. Until November 2023, many Indians took advantage of the visa free status of Nicaragua and El Salvador. US Customs and Border Protection has divided the border of North America i.e. Canada into 13 sectors. It also saw an increase in the number of Indians trying to infiltrate the Swanton sector, covering New York and New Hampshire. As of June 2024, 2715 Indians were found trying to cross the border in this sector. However, between February and November 2023, 5,598 Indians were found trying to enter the US from the Tucson sector in Arizona.
