Dinesh Karthik: In the first innings of the Test match being played between India and New Zealand in Bengaluru, the Indian team was bowled out for just 46 runs. Meanwhile, India’s batting was the center of discussion. Also, Virat Kohli’s batting order has also come into discussion. Kohli usually comes to bat at number-4, but against New Zealand he came to bat at number-3. Now former cricketer Dinesh Karthik has criticized coach Gautam Gambhir for sending Kohli to bat.
Dinesh Karthik said, ‘I am not defending Virat Kohli. He has the technique and passion that makes him one of the best batsmen in history. If I want to change the team, I will keep the batsman in the order where he can perform well. Kohli comes to bat at number-3 in ODIs and opener in T20s. Now it can be said that the ball has changed in Test cricket. In which there is no more movement. The best batting position for Kohli in Test cricket is number-4.
Giving a suggestion, Dinesh Karthik said that coach Gautam Gambhir should have promoted KL Rahul at number-3 instead of Virat Kohli. Kohli himself should have protested against the coach’s statement. And the coach needed to say, I want to bat only at number-4. KL Rahul could prove to be a better option as a No.3 batsman.
It is also to be noted here that the statistics of Virat Kohli, who is coming to bat at number three, is not very good. Batting at number three, he has played 7 innings in Test matches, scoring just 97 runs at an average of around 16.
