Central Government: During the last 5 years, banks have collected Rs. 9.90 lakh crore i.e. Rs. The government has admitted in the Rajya Sabha that it has embezzled an amount of 10 lakh crores. Against this bad loan it is only 18 percent i.e. Rs. Only an amount of 1.85 lakh crores could be recovered. Surprisingly, the State Bank of India (SBI) has refused to give the names of the major defaulters who have settled with the NCLT, even though public sector banks are covered under the Right to Information (RTI) Act. These big defaulters have got a huge discount in repayment of bad loans under NCLT. Keeping with the tradition of concealing the names of major defaulters, SBI during the last 7 years has sanctioned major defaulters Rs. 1,30,105 crore in loans accepting a 65 per cent haircut, it is Rs. 84,039 crore has been recovered. Pune-based RTI activist and SBI shareholder Vivek Velankar sought this information from him at the AGM. At that time, SBI had allocated Rs. He refused to name the big defaulters of more than 100 crores.
