Hatkeshwar Flyover Bridge Ahmedabad: The controversial Hatkeshwar Bridge i.e. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Flyover Bridge which is a symbol of Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s corruption has been closed for vehicular traffic for three years. Now there are reports that the number of gaps on this bridge has increased and the bridge has sagged a little. Apart from this, messages asking people to be careful in passing below have gone viral on social media. On the other hand, only one party has filled the tender issued for the fourth time to demolish this bridge and build a new one. So there are no signs of any major decision regarding the bridge in the near future.
Only one party from Rajasthan filled the tender :
Messages advising people to choose another route instead of passing under the Hatkeswar Bridge have gone viral on social media. The Hatkeswar Bridge, which was built earlier at a cost of more than 40 crore rupees, has become unusable within a matter of years. This bridge has been closed for vehicular traffic for three years due to the dangerous situation due to the gaps on the bridge. Now tenders are often issued to demolish this bridge and build a new one at a cost of 52 crore rupees. But no agency is ready to act. In the tender released by Ahmedabad Municipal for the fourth time, only one party from Rajasthan has filled the tender. In the third attempt too, only one party came in this way. which did not approve tenders which did not submit technical papers.
Use of the bridge as vehicle parking :
Ahmedabad Municipal does not get any agency for the work, on the other hand the number of gaps on the bridge is increasing day by day. Currently this bridge is being used as a vehicle parking. Municipal waste collection lorries have also been piled up on the bridge. According to the message circulating on social media, the bridge on the left side going from CTM to Khokhara has slightly sagged. However, how much truth is there in this? Municipal officials do not make a fuss about it. But people are being appealed on social media to avoid passing under the bridge. People are being advised to go through Maninagar or Khokhra as an alternative route.
