The violence took place at the high-security IK-19 Surovykino penal colony in Russia’s Volgograd region. According to information, a group of prisoners staged a violent revolt. The prisoners, armed with knives, are said to belong to the Islamic State. He took some prisoners hostage and took over a part of the prison. The attackers claimed that they had done this to avenge the atrocities on Muslims. One report claimed that the clash took place at a time when a regular disciplinary meeting was being held. A group of prisoners attacked in the middle of this meeting. The attackers were identified as Ramjidin Toshev, Rustamchon Navruji, Nazirchon Toshov and Timur Khusinov. These four people from Uzbekistan and Tajikistan attacked with sticks. Many people were injured in the attack while many people were taken hostage.
