The registration process for students studying in 9th and 11th standard in CBSE schools will start from tomorrow and will continue till 16th October. Schools will be able to register students after opening the registration window for that. Schools have to be very careful while filling the date of birth of students this time as the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released new guidelines before starting the registration process for the 2025-26 annual examinations. The pattern has to be changed. Accordingly, the day and year of birth will be written in numbers, while the month will be written in letters. For example if a student’s date of birth is 1st February 2005 then it will be recorded as 01-FEB-2005.

The board has also made some other changes this time. Now once the student’s data is sent to the board, it cannot be modified in any way. Earlier, the school used to correct the date of birth or name on the request of the students or their parents before the examination. Due to this process the board was facing difficulty in correcting the data. Now this amendment can be done only after the results of the exams are announced. This change will make data management easier for CBSE and the examination process will run more smoothly. CBSE’s objective behind this change is to reduce confusion in registering date of birth. Schools have also appreciated the board’s decision. He said that earlier when the entire date of birth was recorded in numbers, there was a lot of misunderstanding. In particular, different date formats (DD-MM-YY and MM-DD-YY) were used in different parts of the country, making it difficult to determine in which format the date of birth was written.
