Bhaktinagar Police have picked up Anish Safi Mohd Maw (31), a graduate in mechanical engineering from Kansali village of Ferozepur taluka of Haryana’s Nuhu district. After Anish became unemployed, he fell into the trap of ATM fraud after watching a video on YouTube. The robber used to open the machine monitor with the key he had before going to the ATM machine and withdrawing money. After that, he used to withdraw the money and close the switch in the monitor. After that, an error was created in the transaction, i.e., the transaction was declined. Then he called the bank’s helpline number, who used to commit fraud by reversing the transaction money from the banks to his account by making bogus complaints that while withdrawing money from the ATM, the money was deducted from the account but not received from the ATM. The accused, originally from Haryana, fell into the trap of ATM fraud after watching a YouTube video after becoming unemployed. It has been revealed that he has so far cheated a number of banks in Haryana, Rajasthan and Gujarat in this manner. Canara Bank ATM is located in Shyam Complex near Nagrik Bank Chowk, Rajkot. Where Anish entered and withdrew Rs.9 thousand after tampering with the ATM and declining the transaction, filed a complaint to get back Rs.9 thousand. But after his pot burst, the bank filed a complaint against him in the Bhaktinagar police. On the basis of which PI Mayurghwaj Singh Sarvaiya and PSI M.N. Vasawa started an investigation and took him fast. In addition to the two ATM cards used in the crime, 31 ATM cards of different banks were recovered from him, a total of 33 ATM cards. Apart from this, two keys used to open the ATM monitor were also seized. A total of Rs 5,000 worth of valuables including his mobile phone was seized.
On questioning the accused Anish, the police found that he was earlier working in an automobile company in Sanand. He went to Haryana when the company was closed. He had prepared for a year or so for the junior clerk exam in Jayana’s electrical department. But he failed the exam. Due to which Bekar was wandering. This time when a friend met him, he gave information about the ATM fraud. After that, he got the information by watching YouTube videos on how to do fraud. Based on which he started ATM fraud. In the beginning, Haryana used to cheat then Rajasthan and Gujarat. In Gujarat, he committed fraud twice in Nadiad, four to five times in Ahmedabad, six times in Jamnagar, seven to eight times in Rajkot, two times in Gandhidham in Kutch and in cities including Surendranagar. He had defrauded several banks for the past two years. But he has been caught for the first time. He used to commit fraud by renting different bank accounts, obtaining his ATM cards.
