Bangladesh cricket team veteran and all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has announced his retirement from Test cricket. Which will not be implemented immediately. However, he has announced his retirement from T20 international cricket with immediate effect. Shakib will play in the second Test against India at Kanpur from September 27. After this he will play one more test cricket series and then he will say goodbye to red ball cricket. The upcoming test series against South Africa in Bangladesh will be his last series in this format. Shakib made the announcement while addressing the media in Kanpur ahead of the second Test match against India. Meanwhile, he gave information about his retirement. The South African team is scheduled to travel to Bangladesh for a two-match Test series in October. Shakib said, “I have expressed my desire to retire from Test cricket after the series against South Africa at Mirpur next month to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). However, Shakib’s ability to play in the series depends on whether he gets security clearance or not. If Shakib cannot play in this Test, the second Test against India starting on September 27 could be his last Test.

During his cricket career, Shakib has played 129 matches for Bangladesh in T20I cricket, scoring a total of 2551 runs in 126 innings. His best score was 84 runs at an average of 23.19. He has scored these runs at a strike rate of 121.25, including 13 half-centuries. Shakib has taken 149 wickets in bowling. So far in Test cricket, Shakib has taken 242 wickets in 70 matches, and as a batsman he has scored 4600 runs in Test cricket, including 5 centuries and 31 fifties. He has also scored a double century.
