Ahead of Prime Minister Modi’s visit to the US, the case of vandalism and writing of anti-India slogans at the BAPS Swaminarayan temple in New York has come to light. Roads and sign boards outside the temple located in Melville have been spray-painted with obscenities. The Indian Consulate in New York has strongly condemned the vandalism of the temple and termed it as a heinous act. With this, the matter has been raised before the American authorities to prosecute the culprits. Also BAPS has appealed for peace. The Hindu American Association also condemned the attack and demanded an investigation by the US government. According to a report, the organization has asked the Department of Justice and DHS to investigate the attack on the BAPS Swaminarayan temple in Melville and recent threats to Hindu organizations. Also, a large number of people from the Indian community are scheduled to unite in Nassau County this weekend.
