Assam’s banned outfit ULFA has claimed to have planted bombs in 24 locations. The police have taken action and arrested 15 people including three women. After this organization claimed to have planted bombs in 24 places in the state on 15th August i.e. Independence Day, there was a huge uproar in the state.

Police and NIA jointly carried out the operation:
Pranavjyoti Goswami, Chief Public Relations Officer of Assam Police, said, “The Assam Police conducted an investigation at several places in the state with the help of a technical team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Meanwhile, a major success was achieved after conducting a joint raid, in which 15 people, including three women, were arrested on Saturday night. Assam Police said, “The police got a major success after investigating the claim that explosive materials like IEDs were planted during the Independence Day celebrations. . The police, along with the NIA, carried out an operation for several days and got intelligence, after which the raids were conducted. After interrogating the arrested persons, the fact of the claim of planting the bomb came to light. In the incident of planting the bomb, the police raided many places in the state. During the investigation, two IED-like devices were recovered from Guwahati and around 10 bomb-related materials from Assam. The police arrested 15 people, including three women, including three accused each from Dibrugarh and Lakhimpur, two each from Jorhat and Guwahati, one each from Tinsukia, Sadia, Nagaon, Nalbadi and Tamulpur.
