Adani Group owner Gautam Adani’s net worth has risen dramatically over the past few years, making him the richest person in the country with a net worth of Rs 11.61 lakh crore in 2024. But the group earning such a large number is far behind in paying taxes in the country. He has not seen any significant contribution to the country’s exchequer.Not a single Adani Group company is included in the list of companies paying the highest corporate tax in the country. Reliance, two Tata Group companies, three government and other banks are among the top 10 companies paying corporate tax in the country. But among the nine companies listed in the stock market of Adani Group, not a single company is involved. Looking at the figures of companies paying corporate tax, Adani Enterprises, the flagship company of the Adani Group, is nowhere in the top-10.
11.32 lakh crore corporate tax in 2023-24:
According to Press Information Bureau figures, in 2023-24 a total of Rs. Corporate tax of 11.32 lakh crore was collected. Which last year’s Rs. 10 lakh crore has increased by 13.06 percent. Net corporate tax collection increased by 10.26 percent to Rs. 9.11 lakh crore. The Adani Group has been in continuous controversies for the past two years. In January last year, questions were raised against the transparency of the Adani Group after the report of the manipulation of Adani Group’s shares by the American research agency Hindenburg. Despite SEBI and the Supreme Court giving the Adani Group a clean chit on these charges, yet another fresh Hindenburg report has raised doubts.
