Surat : Surat,which was ranked 13th last year as the cleanest city in the country, has achieved great success this time. In Swachh Vayu Survey 2024, Surat has achieved the first rank, leaving behind 131 cities in the country. Diamond City has secured 194 marks out of total 200 marks. Surat has managed to achieve a significant reduction of 12.71 percent in PM10 particulate matter in 2023-24. In last year’s survey, Surat was ranked 13th and Indore came first. 1.5 crores with the award of National Clean Air City by the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change in Jaipur on 7th September at a planning ceremony under the National Mission for Clean Air program in Surat in 2023. Prize money, trophy and certificate will be awarded. The Clean Air Survey initiative was launched by the central government to assess the efforts of non-attainment cities to improve air quality in Indian cities and target a 30 percent reduction in particulate matter.
