UK for higher studies: Although Indians are at the forefront of getting student visas in Britain, the number of Indian students taking admission in British universities is gradually decreasing. Indian students are not choosing to go to Britain because of massive restrictions on migration.According to Britain’s Home Office figures, the number of Indian students coming to Britain for higher studies has dropped by 23 percent by June 2024. However, Indian students still top the number of graduate route visa holders. The number of Indian students in Britain has decreased due to new immigration rules that came into force at the beginning of this year. According to the new rules, the rules for bringing dependents to Britain have been tightened. 1,10,006 Indian students have been granted sponsored study visas till June 2024. Which is 32,687 less than last year. From 2019 to 2023, the number of foreign students coming to Britain increased from India and Nigeria. However, after 2023, the number of students from India has decreased by 23 percent and the number of students from Nigeria by 46 percent. Under the India-UK Young Professionals Scheme, 2234 Indian nationals have gone to Britain since February last year. This number is less than the maximum visa limit of 3000. Indians were the largest number of students from abroad in the year ending June 2024. The number of Indian students who went to Britain through the graduate route was 67,529. Which accounts for only 46 percent of the visas granted in this category.
