An Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service (AMTS) bus was gutted in a sudden fire on SG Highway early on Monday, triggering panic among commuters and motorists as thick black smoke billowed into the sky. All passengers were evacuated in time and no injuries were reported, fire officials said. According to preliminary information, the blaze broke out while the bus was in motion. Within minutes, the vehicle was engulfed in flames. Thaltej Fire department teams rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control.Traffic on the busy arterial road was briefly disrupted as emergency services cordoned off the area. Visuals from the scene showed the bus reduced to a charred shell, with plumes of smoke visible from a distance.While the immediate response ensured there was no loss of life, the incident has once again raised questions about the safety and maintenance of public transport buses.
