The Cyclonic Storm “Montha” weakened into a deep depression early on Wednesday and was centered at 8:30 a.m. IST over coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining Telangana. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that another depression persists over the east-central Arabian Sea, influencing widespread weather activity across several regions of the country.

Under the combined impact of these systems, isolated extremely heavy rainfall is likely over Telangana on Wednesday, while very heavy rainfall is expected over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema, Vidarbha, and Marathwada. Saurashtra and Kutch are likely to receive very heavy rain between October 29 and 31. Bihar is expected to experience very heavy rain on October 30 and 31, followed by sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on October 31.

During the past 24 hours (ending at 8:30 a.m. on October 29), extremely heavy rainfall was recorded at isolated places in coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam. Heavy to very heavy rainfall was also reported from Marathwada, Telangana, Odisha, and Rayalaseema, while parts of western and eastern Rajasthan, north interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Gangetic West Bengal, and Bihar received heavy showers.
