The canopy (German Dome) has collapsed at the Rajkot Hirasar Airport due to heavy winds and rain. However, fortunately there was no casualty in this incident. A major accident was averted at Rajkot International Airport on Saturday. Here too, a disaster like Terminal-1 of Delhi Airport was spared. A canopy above the passenger pick-up-drop area outside the terminal at the Rajkot-based Hirasar International Airport collapsed. However, fortunately no casualties were caused. Rajkot Airport’s new terminal building was inaugurated by PM Modi in July 2023. The airport was expanded at a cost of more than 1400 crores.

Rainy conditions are being seen in the city and the district amid the forecast of rain in Rajkot and Saurashtra today by the Meteorological Department. It rained in all areas of the city including Yagnik Road, Race Course Ring Road, Kalavad Road, Trikon Bagh, 150 feet Ring Road, Raia Road, Sadhuvaswani Road, Madhapar and Munjka for half an hour today from 11 am.
