Kanpur: Another train accident has occurred in the country early on Saturday morning. 20 coaches of the Sabarmati Express train from Varanasi to Ahmedabad derailed near Govindpuri station in Kanpur at 2.30 am on Saturday. However, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has alleged that this is not an accident but a conspiracy to overturn the train and cause major casualties. The train driver has said that a big stone was placed on the track, which caused the accident when it hit the engine. However, fortunately there was no casualty in this incident. 20 coaches of the Varanasi-Ahmedabad train derailed between Kanpur and Bhimsen railway stations at approximately 2.35 hours. However, there were no casualties. No passengers or employees were injured. The Uttar Pradesh Police is investigating the incident. Following this accident, seven trains were canceled and three were diverted to other routes.
Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said on social media platform X that the Sabarmati Express train’s engine was hit by a large stone-like object and the coaches derailed from the track. A sharp object appears to have hit the engine. Evidence is preserved. IB and UP Police are working on it. No passengers or employees were injured. Arrangements have been made for the train to continue its onward journey to Ahmedabad. Railway board officials said that prima facie it appears that anti-social elements have hatched a conspiracy to derail the train. Some boulders (large stones) hit the engine’s kettle guard, the Loco pilot said. These boulders were placed on the track to damage the train. Officials of the Railway Board said that the Patna-Indore train passed on the same track at 1.20 pm and did not face any obstacles. A traveler going from Varanasi to Ahmedabad said that the train derailed after leaving Kanpur railway station. As the train was slow, there were no major casualties due to the falling of its coaches. Uttar Pradesh Relief Commissioner GS Naveen Kumar said that buses were arranged as part of an alternative arrangement for tourists. All were taken from the accident site to the nearest railway station.
