Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh’s father Yograj Singh attacked MS Dhoni in a recent interview. He continues to criticize the former Indian captain Dhoni on the most public platform. Yograj said in an interview, ‘I will not forgive Dhoni. He should look at his face in the mirror. He is a great cricketer, but what he did to my son is coming out now. He can never be forgiven in life. I have never done anything twice in my life. Firstly I have never forgiven those who have not been good to me and secondly I have never hugged them in my life, be it my family members or my children. Yograj Singh accused Dhoni that he deliberately interfered in Yuvraj’s career. Yuvraj’s career was cut short by some of Dhoni’s decisions, which was a big loss for Indian cricket. Yuvraj could have played for 4-5 more years if Dhoni had not interfered. Dhoni’s decision to bat first in the final match of the 2011 World Cup robbed Yuvraj of his moment of glory. ‘The conflict between Dhoni and Yuvraj is not only limited to professional reasons but it is also personal. Yograj said, ‘Dhoni needs to introspect and look at his face in the mirror and question himself. He has wronged Yuvraj, so I will never forgive him. His statement makes it clear that the bitterness between him and Dhoni runs deep.’
Differences in Lifestyle and Cultural Values:
Yogaraj raised questions about Dhoni’s lifestyle and cultural values. Criticizing Dhoni, he said, ‘He attends parties instead of cultural events, which is against my values. Such behavior of Dhoni does not match his duties as a national icon. These statements of his make it clear that there is a difference in cultural and social ideology between him and Dhoni.’
