Vadodara : There is a widespread complaint on a daily basis that numerous councilors are not visiting their areas despite being fully aware of the frequent damage to people’s properties in the floods. There is a lot of resentment among the citizens with the feeling that several corporators have not even bothered to visit numerous flood-affected societies and comfort the citizens there. Today, the residents of Saideep Nagar on New VIP Road once again created a controversy as they put up banners on their doors announcing entry ban for leaders with some demands. It has been several hours now since the floodwaters receded in Vadodara and the clean-up campaign seems to be going on only at the administration level. Because in most of the places where the cleaning campaign is going on, the corporators whom the citizens have made are not seen. Because they are being strongly opposed in many places. Some corporators are yet to even visit numerous affected societies. So the citizens are saying that we don’t need money but the corporators have missed their duty to ask about our knowledge. A corporator is a title that has direct contact with the citizens. Many people are saying that we have no hope for money from the government or corporation but they have not even bothered to come to our society in our area and seek relief from the situation. Then what is the use of such corporators or we have to go to the officials every time to get the work done. On the other hand, many people from the slum area are also saying that we do not have all the corporators of the area moving there yet, so what to talk about MLA or MP? This situation shows that people’s anger has bubbled up against BJP workers and elected people’s representatives against the flood situation of people’s representatives being out of touch.
