Under the Saraswati Sadhana Yojana in Gujarat, free bicycles are provided to girl students of class 8-9 in government and grant-in-aid schools. Then one controversy after another is coming up regarding these bicycles. First of all, the state government has been accused of paying Rs 500 more per cycle. Then thousands of bicycles bought were found to be gathering dust. Then now there is a tendency to do color work on these not delivered on time and cut bicycles.
With the help of this bicycle, the students can reach school on time and regularly. Bicycles are distributed by the government to reduce the drop out ratio of girl students. But the bicycles purchased for distribution in the 2023 school festival under this scheme have been found to be in a dilapidated condition. Thousands of bicycles are rusting in fields and godowns. So now these wrecked bicycles are being painted to hide negligence, so that they are trying to make them look like new. The matter of painting has reached Gandhinagar. As this matter becomes serious, instructions have been given from the Chief Minister level to stop the distribution of bicycles. In some districts, circulars have also been announced to remove these bicycles. Bicycles for schools of Gandhinagar Taluk are kept in Sector 3 of Gandhinagar. Surprisingly, these bicycles are being given a new paint job, which has raised many questions. Why no action was taken on non-distribution of these bicycles on time? Now repainting these bicycles is costing more. After stopping the distribution of bicycles, what will be done with the bicycles? When will action be taken against those who diverted crores of rupees from the public? The whole incident is also being seen as a scam. It remains to be seen whether the government takes any action against those responsible.
