Jitanram Manjhi said, ‘The Bihar government is working very diligently in this, whoever is responsible for the incidents, these people catch them. This kind of incident happens every now and then. 13 crore, 14 crore population. Something happens somewhere. It is not only a matter of Bihar, this kind of thing happens in other places too.’ Manjhi’s son Santosh Suman Manjhi has alleged that people from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) are selling liquor. Santosh Suman is the president of Hindustani Awam-Morcha-Secular (Hum) and a minister in the Nitish government.
Opposition leaders like Tejashwi Yadav, Akhilesh Prasad Singh, Prashant Kishor have attributed the failure of prohibition to the sale of poisoned liquor and blamed it on the complicity of the system, the police and the liquor mafia. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has sent production department, liquor ban police to the affected areas for investigation and action.
