Gujarat employees will go on a pan-down strike on September 17 to resolve 10 outstanding issues and will hold a zone-wise sit-in program from October 6 to October 27. In pending issues, the employees have again raised the issue of the old pension scheme. It is worth mentioning that Prime Minister Modi’s birthday is on September 17 and he may also visit Gujarat. On this day he is also going to come to Gujarat and may inaugurate the metro train. The programs of the movement have been decided by the Gujarat State Employees’ Federation. On September 17, employees across the state will boycott operations through pendown, shut down, while in October, employees from four zones will come to Gandhinagar’s Satyagraha camp and stage a sit-in. On October 6, employees from Central Gujarat, South and North Gujarat on 13th, and Saurashtra and North Gujarat on 20th and 27th will come to Gandhinagar. By writing to the Chief Minister and Chief Secretary of the state, the Karmara Mahamandal announced its programmes. Major issues including old pension scheme, withdrawal of government’s petition in the Supreme Court regarding fixed pay, providing pending benefits of the 7th Pay Commission, removal of discrepancy in grade pay, removal of discrepancy in higher pay, cont. These include re-employment to heirs in case of death on the job, exemption from departmental examination for employees after 50 years, cessation of outsourcing and concessional rate plots.
