Viramgam: Prevention of mosquito breeding is very important to prevent dengue epidemics. Aedes aegypti mosquito is responsible for spreading dengue disease. Which is a container breeder. In Ahmedabad district, under the guidance of District Development Officer Videh Khare, Chief District Health Officer Dr. Shailesh Parmar and District Malaria Officer Narendra Singh Rathore, a mega drive for dengue prevention measures was conducted. Earlier also two such mega drives were conducted in Ahmedabad district. Steps are being taken by the Health Department to prevent the spread of vector-borne epidemics during the transmission season. 291 personnel including Multi Purpose Health Worker, Multi Purpose Health Supervisor, Taluka Supervisor, District Team in different talukas of Ahmedabad district by face to face visit to tire puncture shop, scrap shop, GIDC area, construction site and other places where mosquito breeding was observed and in future Notices were issued to persons in places where water logging is likely to breed mosquitoes. The vessels in which pora was found were destroyed by the personnel on the spot. A total of 2566 places in Ahmedabad district were inspected by health department personnel out of which 444 containers were found to be contaminated and 616 people were issued notices. Apart from this, the people present at each place were also made aware of the work to be done to prevent mosquito breeding. A special anti-dengue drive was conducted in Ahmedabad district to give effect to the slogan “Prevention is better than cure”. Earlier two times anti-dengue mega drive was conducted in Ahmedabad district and notices were also sent. Mega drive against dengue was conducted in Ahmedabad district for the third time on Saturday. Henceforth, if mosquito breeding places are found in any privately owned premises, fines will be collected on the spot as per the Epidemic Act 1897, Ahmedabad District Malaria Officer Narendra Singh Rathore said.
