AHMEDABAD: As many as nine fire officers who got jobs in the Ahmedabad Fire Department after getting admission in the National Fire College at Nagpur on the basis of bogus sponsorship letters have been dismissed from their jobs as the allegations against them are proven. Among the three Divisional Fire Officers serving on probation, Kaizad Dastoor is currently the in-charge Chief Fire Officer of Gandhinagar Fire Department. Abhijit Gadhvi is serving as Regional Fire Officer in Surat. A police complaint was lodged after a dispute arose regarding admission. After the police complaint, the seat was formed and a list of those admitted to the Nagpur Fire College was prepared on the basis of the bogus sponsorship letter. Ahmedabad was included in the list of those admitted to the college on the basis of the bogus sponsorship letter being investigated at the Nagpur Fire College. The team of Khula seat came to Ahmedabad to name some officers working in the fire department. An investigation was carried out regarding the officers working at various fire stations in Ahmedabad. Meanwhile, the Municipal Commissioner with proof that nine officers got a job in Ahmedabad Fire Department after getting admission in Nagpur Fire College on the basis of bogus sponsorship letter by Mustafa Patel, a retired employee of Ahmedabad Fire Department. A vigilance investigation was conducted against all those who demanded a vigilance investigation by presenting to the court. All of them were given a final termination notice and given time to submit their reply within ten days. As the explanation given by them was not satisfactory, Municipal Commissioner M. Thennarson issued notice to all of them on August 22. On 24th, he was ordered to resign from the job. The municipal opposition leader has demanded the recovery of the financial benefits received from all those who were released from duty.
