A Valsad farmer turned compensation into a sustainable livelihood, proving that responsible infrastructure can empower rural families while preserving their land.

Panas Village, Valsad Taluka | 24th July 2026: For generations, the arrival of power transmission projects in villages has often been met with fear—fear of losing farmland, livelihoods, and an uncertain future. But in Panas village of Valsad Taluka, one farmer’s journey is rewriting that narrative and showing how development, when carried out with transparency and fairness, can become a catalyst for prosperity.

For farmer Vilasbhai Chaudhary, the Khavda IV C Power Transmission Limited initially raised the same concerns shared by many villagers. However, open communication, transparent processes, and fair compensation gradually replaced uncertainty with trust.

“The team patiently explained every detail—from land usage to compensation. Everything was transparent, and I received my compensation without any difficulty. It gave me confidence that our interests were being respected,” says Vilasbhai.

Instead of treating the compensation as a one-time payment, Vilasbhai invested it in securing his family’s future. He purchased four dairy cows, creating a reliable source of income through milk production. Within months, the additional earnings began strengthening his household finances, significantly increasing the family’s income and providing greater financial security.

The impact went beyond economics. Using part of the compensation, Vilasbhai also installed an automated water facility for his cattle. The simple yet meaningful improvement reduced the daily physical burden on the women in his family, making livestock management easier and improving their quality of life.

Panas village Sarpanch Beena Ben Ashokbhai Patel says the benefits have extended across the community “Khavda IV C Power Transmission Limited  has brought genuine financial support to many families in our village. Farmers have received fair compensation for land use and crops while continuing to own and cultivate their land. Many households are using this support for their children’s education, farming, and future needs. Our Gram Panchayat has fully supported this initiative because we have witnessed its positive impact firsthand.”

The 258-kilometre, 765 kV double-circuit transmission line connecting South Olpad (GIS) to Boisar-II (GIS) is not only strengthening India’s power infrastructure but also demonstrating how large-scale development can coexist with rural livelihoods. More than 700 landowners across Valsad and Navsari have already received compensation, enabling many families to invest in agriculture, livestock, education, and other income-generating opportunities.

By prioritising transparency, fair compensation, and continued agricultural use of farmland, Khavda IV C Power Transmission Limited is helping dispel long-held misconceptions surrounding infrastructure projects. Stories like Vilasbhai’s demonstrate that when development is implemented responsibly, it does more than build power lines—it builds confidence, strengthens livelihoods, and creates new opportunities for rural families.

Empowering Infrastructure. Supporting Communities.
