‘One State One GST’ will bring simplicity, uniformity and efficiency in the functioning of the Department of Posts – Postmaster General Krishna Kumar Yadav
Department of Posts organized a workshop on “One State One GST” in Ahmedabad on 15 May 2026 for its effective implementation. The workshop was inaugurated by Postmaster General, North Gujarat Region, Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav. The objective of the workshop was to train officers for the successful implementation of the new GST system and to familiarize them with the integrated operational framework. The workshop was attended by Senior Superintendents of Post Offices, Superintendents, Senior Postmasters, and Accounts Officers from various Divisions.
While inaugurating the workshop, Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav said that until now, variations in GST-related operational procedures were observed across different Divisions. However, under the new system, a unified framework will now function across the entire state. This will make accounting, tax compliance, invoice management, and financial reporting simpler and more effective. This new system would significantly enhance administrative efficiency, save time, reduce errors, and strengthen accountability. “One State, One GST” is not merely an administrative reform, but a historic step toward establishing simplicity, transparency, uniformity, and efficiency in operational procedures. In view of the evolving economic and technological requirements, reforming departmental work processes has become the need of the hour to ensure a simpler, more transparent, and accountable system. “One State One GST” is an important initiative in this direction.
During the workshop, Senior Accounts Officer Shri B. Shiva Kumar and Chartered Accountant Consultant Shri Nirmal Bhandari provided detailed insights on the comparative review of the old and new GST systems, classification of supplies, GST framework, registration and its applicability, eligibility of Input Tax Credit, restrictions, ITC claim and required documentation, ITC categorization under CGST Rules 42 & 43, common credit identification, blocked credit analysis, and apportionment of eligible and ineligible ITC, monthly filing cycle & non-compliance inferences as well as TDS provisions under GST. Senior Accounts Officer Ms. Pooja Rathore delivered the welcome address, greeted all participants, and presented the outline and framework of the workshop.
Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav said that the implementation of the “One State One GST” system in the Department of Posts will make departmental financial management more streamlined, transparent, integrated, and effective. Under the earlier system, separate GST and GST-TDS registrations were operated for each Drawing and Disbursing Officer (DDO). Under the new framework being implemented by the Postal Directorate, each state will now have only a single integrated GST registration for the department. For this purpose, Department of Posts has obtained a centralized single PAN and appropriately linked it with the respective GST registrations. This new system will ensure more effective and optimal utilization of Input Tax Credit (ITC), simplify and centralize the tax payment process, bring greater uniformity in compliance procedures, and significantly enhance departmental financial efficiency.
