Seven people, including three members of a family, have been killed and two villagers are missing due to landslides at three to four places in Tripura following heavy rains, a senior official said in a statement. Five people have died in South Tripura district. Revenue Department Secretary Brijesh Pandey has said that one person each has died in Gomta and Khowai districts. He said that two people are missing from Khowai and Gomti districts. Due to heavy rain since Sunday, many areas of the state have become waterlogged. The official further said that a red alert has been issued in South Tripura district in view of the forecast of moderate to heavy rains of the Meteorological Department. While orange alert has been issued in the remaining seven districts of the state. On the other hand, parts of the 510 MW hydroelectric project on the Teesta river have been damaged due to a large-scale landslide in East Sikkim. The landslide occurred at 7.30 am. One of the Ganga rivers in Bhagalpur district of Bihar. As a part of the security embankment was damaged, many villages of Gopalpur were submerged in water.
