Anti-social elements attacked protestors at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in West Bengal’s capital Kolkata on Wednesday (14 August) night. They beat protesting doctors and ransacked the hospital. The central government has become strict regarding this incident. According to the memorandum issued by the Ministry of Health, in case of assault or any form of violence against a health worker on duty, it will be the responsibility of the head of the hospital/institution to lodge an FIR within 6 hours of the incident.
