Counting days are now left for the launch of the second phase of the metro rail network, jointly built by the GMRC (Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation) and the Government of Gujarat and India. This second phase of metro will connect Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate it on September 16 from Sector-1. After inaugurating the second phase of the Metro, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to the gift city of Basi in the Metro. The metro station of Gift City, from where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the metro, has been designed to surpass the airport. With the launch of the second phase of Metro Railway, the connectivity between Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar will be strengthened and people’s journey will be faster, safer and fairer.

Passengers will benefit from:

Metro will continue to be a fair and reliable transport option against the ever-increasing traffic and expensive transportation. To take an example, the 33.5 km metro journey from APMC(Vasna) to Gandhinagar Sector-1 is completed in just 65 minutes which will cost only ₹35. In comparison, the journey takes around 80 minutes by taxi which costs more than ₹ 415. The fare in an autorickshaw is around ₹375 with timings around the metro and beyond. Time and cost savings will make metro transport the preferred option for daily commuters, students and employees working in Gandhinagar and surrounding areas of Gift City. The launch of this service will help ease traffic on Ahmedabad’s busy roads, which will be crucial in curbing pollution.
