After the incident of rape-murder of a woman doctor of RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata, there have been deep reactions across the country. Due to which all the doctors, including in Surat city, are protesting to get justice for the lady doctor and her family and for the accused to be severely punished. However, doctors including residents of New Civil and Smeer Hospital continued their strike today and protested wearing black clothes. Along with this, a rally was taken out this morning by various medical associations including IMA and organizations including para medical staff. According to the details received, following the heinous crime of rape and murder of a woman doctor in a hospital in Calcutta, the Surat branch of the Indian Medical Association will protest for one day (24 hours) from this Saturday morning till the morning of the 18th. Medical services will be closed. However, emergency services are on. Also, a general meeting was organized in the auditorium of the new civil hospital on Saturday morning. Later in the morning, more than 500 doctors and para-medical staff of various doctors associations including IMA gathered and took out a rally from Navi Civil and presented the application letter to the collector. Through the rally, the doctors demanded justice for the victim doctor and strict punishment for the culprit. In New Civil and Smeer Hospital, the doctors including the resident doctor continued the strike by wearing black clothes and continued the strike and the senior doctors including the teachers and doctors of both the hospitals are working in the OPD so that the patients do not have to face hardships due to being separated from their work.
