The Congress protested against the change in the scholarship rules by the Gujarat government today. The Congress protested saying that the BJP government’s talk of “Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat” also discriminated in scholarship. Apart from this, the legal change regarding the benefit of the scholarship, Aadhaar Card-Ration Card and asking for mandatory proof of parents being of Gujarati origin, has been alleged as an unfair attitude of depriving them of their rights. The legislative changes made by the Gujarat government over the years regarding the benefit of pre-matric scholarship to poor students studying in Nagar Primary Education Committee-Zilla Panchayat Primary Schools and Grant-in-Ed Primary Schools. The Congress protested today as many students are likely to be deprived of scholarship due to this. Protests were held by Congress in different areas of the city by different wings. Suresh Suhagia, a former Congress member of the Education Committee, said during the protest, “Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat” is being talked about by the BJP government, which changed the rules of scholarships for children studying in government schools, which is being discriminated against children in education by this despotic government. Former Congress corporator Aslam Cycle Wala said during the protest that many students are deprived of their rights by making a legal change and asking for mandatory proof of Gujarati parentage A protest was held even in the rain because of this.
