Ahmedabad, In a significant step towards strengthening cancer awareness and early detection, HCGAastha Cancer Centre, Sola, organised the Pink Power Walkathon – “Step Up.  Speak Out.”on the occasion of World Cancer Day. The initiative aimed to educate the community aboutcancer prevention, promote early screening, and encourage open conversations around cancer.On the morning of World Cancer Day, HCG Aastha Cancer Centre (HACC) successfullycommenced the Pink Power Walkathon with theenthusiastic participation of 220 women,spreading cancer awareness and inspiring the community towards a healthier future.The walkathon witnessed large-scale participation from oncologists, healthcare professionals,cancer survivors, patients, caregivers, volunteers, and members of the public, all united by ashared mission to spread awareness that early diagnosis can save lives. Participants carried themessage of hope, resilience, and timely action while advocating for routine health check-ups. Addressing the gathering, specialists from HCG Aastha Cancer Centre emphasised that manycancers, especially breast and gynecological cancers, can be detected at an early stage throughregular screening and awareness of symptoms. They highlighted the need to overcome fear,social stigma, and misinformation associated with cancer, which often leads to delayeddiagnosis.The event also focused on empowering women with knowledge about self-examination,preventive screenings, and lifestyle modifications such as balanced nutrition, physical activity,and avoidance of tobacco. Survivors shared inspiring experiences, reinforcing the message that cancer is treatable when detected early.
