Commodity futures and options on MCX recorded historic high turnover of Rs 4,72,606 crore

The country’s leading commodity derivatives exchange MCX recorded a turnover of Rs 84474.35 crore till 5 pm on Tuesday in various commodity futures, options and index futures. Commodity futures saw a turnover of Rs.9292.78 crore, while commodity options recorded a notional turnover of Rs.75180.47 crore. Bullion index bulldex September futures reached the level of 18349 points. The total premium turnover in commodity options stood at Rs 720.74 crore. It may be mentioned here that on Monday, September 16, a historic high turnover of Rs 4,72,606.58 crore was recorded in commodity futures and options on MCX. Along with this, commodity options on the exchange recorded a record notional transaction of Rs.4,50,176.46 crore and premium of Rs.4,812.53 crore, indicating that traders’ interest in options trading on the exchange is increasing.

By 5 pm on Tuesday, gold-silver futures in precious metals were Rs. 5670.51 crore worth of work was done. MCX gold October futures opened at Rs 73298 per 10 grams, touched a high of Rs 73598 and a low of Rs 73154, falling by Rs 201 to Rs 73295 against the previous close of Rs 73496. Against this, Gold-Guinea September futures fell by Rs.115 per gram to Rs.59315 per gram. While gold-petal September futures fell by Rs.25 to Rs.7184 per gram. Gold-mini October futures fell by Rs.194 to Rs.73,228 per 10 grams. Among silver futures, silver December futures opened at Rs.89,727 per kg, touched a high of Rs.89,801 and a low of Rs.89,000, against the previous close of Rs.89,609. 386 fell to Rs.89223. Against this, silver-mini November futures fell by Rs.309 to trade at Rs.89180 per kg. While silver-micro November futures fell by Rs.301 to trade at Rs.89186. Non-ferrous metals traded at Rs. 1981.77 crores worth of work was done. Copper September futures rose by Rs.1.05 to Rs.810.35 per kg. While zinc September futures fell by Rs.1.35 to Rs.268.65. Against this, aluminum September futures fell by 65 paise to Rs.231.15. While lead September futures fell by Rs.1.15 to trade at Rs.183.25.

In the energy segment Rs. 1673.41 crore worth of work was done. MCX crude oil September futures opened at Rs.5910 per barrel, touched a high of Rs.5930 and a low of Rs.5834, falling by Rs.6 to Rs.5881 against the previous close of Rs.5887. While crude oil-mini September futures fell by Rs.2 to Rs.5880. Against this, natural gas September futures were trading at a price of Rs.200.2 per MMBT up by 80 paise. While natural gas-mini September futures rose by 80 paise to Rs.200.2. Mentha oil September futures opened at Rs.940.2 per kg, fell by Rs.1.7 to Rs.942.3 per kg. Cotton handi September futures rose by Rs.230 to Rs.58,800 per handi.
