Reports of construction of a bridge in a farm in Bihar’s Araria district went viral on social media. Where a bridge was built in the field of a village, but the way to climb the bridge was not known. Now in Muzaffarpur, the case of a hospital built in a field at a cost of five crore rupees has come to the fore. This government dispensary had turned into a ghost bungalow and was in a dilapidated state since it was not inaugurated. According to reports, the 30-bed government hospital built on 6 acres of land in Chandpura village of Muzaffarpur district was equipped with modern equipment. Since 2015 till date the health department has not taken over it. Not a single patient has been treated in this hospital. Also the most interesting thing about this hospital is that even the health department is not aware of it. This became a government hospital 10 years ago. Now the situation is that the thieves have stolen hospital windows, door frames, doors, grills, gates, cupboards, electrical wiring and other equipment. The hospital has now become a hotbed of anti-social elements. On the campus of this 30-bed hospital, three buildings were constructed to house the health workers and one building for the testing center. But all the three buildings are in ruins today. Villager Sudhir Kumar said, ‘This is a flood affected area. The population here is around 1 lakh. When this hospital was being built, seeing its magnificence, people around hoped that now they would not have to go to a city 50 kilometers away for better treatment. But this hospital has not been functional despite being built so grandly. There is a lot of forest around the hospital. Villagers are afraid to come here.’
