One will hear many incidents of bank robbery in the world but France’s Société Générale bank robbery is unique. The word amazing is being used here because the accused of this robbery was an ordinary photographer and he stole 900 crore rupees from the world’s most secure Manati Bank in 27 hours but did not let anyone know.
‘No charges against Manish Sisodia..’ Kejriwal’s revelation against CBI claim in court:
The theft that took place on 19 July 1976 in the city of Nice in France shocked people. The theft took place at Societe Generale Bank, which is considered to be the safest in the world. In which the security alarm was not installed thinking that it is impossible to steal in this bank. There is no need to install a security alarm, but this over confidence has weighed heavily on the bank. Thieves definitely broke into it and spent 27 hours inside the vault. When the bank employee arrived in the morning, the theft was reported and he tried to unlock the bank vault and open the door like every day but after all efforts the vault did not open, experts from the vault manufacturing company were called but they understood that the vault was jammed. It was a big event. When there was a huge crowd of customers in front of the bank and the bank vault did not open, the experts decided to poke a hole in the vault and look inside, so as to understand what is the problem in opening the vault. Even then, a bank robbery did not cross his mind as there were no signs of forced entry on the vault door, which would indicate that someone had opened it or attempted to open it. When a hole was drilled in the wall of the vault with a heavy drilling machine and looked inside, it was found that someone had welded and closed the door of the vault from inside. The bank employees were shocked to see this situation. Many lockers there were left open, leaving valuables missing. The cash was missing. On calculation, it was found that this was a theft of around 900 crore rupees. The only way into this bank vault was through the door. Then no one understood how the thief got inside the Vost. There was no clue how to reach the thief. After a long time, one of the thieves made a mistake in stalking his girlfriend and his investigation led to a clue that revealed the identity of the bank robbers.
The photographer planned the robbery:
The investigation revealed that the mastermind of the gang that stole 900 crore rupees from a French bank was a photographer. The photographer opened a locker in the bank and went into the vault several times on the pretext of operating it, taking pictures of every part of the vault. To find out what a security alarm is like in a bank and the response of the security personnel when it is activated, photographer Albert Spazziari set the alarm in his locker and set a clock. Which was ringing in the night but the security alarm was not set in the bank thinking that no one can even think of stealing in this most secure bank. That’s it, this mistake became huge. The photographer took advantage of this loop hole and started planning the heist. A web series photographer plans to build a tunnel to reach a bank vault so that he can enter it from an underground passageway. For this, he cleverly mapped out the entire sewer line around the bank. He contacted a gangster to build the tunnel and then built the tunnel along with his members. A part of which was coming out in the sewer line. Thieves used several heavy gas cutters to access the bank’s vaults through tunnels. Then reached inside the vault and took out money comfortably, broke several lockers and took out valuable jewelry etc. Meanwhile, lunch and dinner were also prepared and eaten at the vault. Then wrapped everything up and sealed the vault door from the inside with the help of welding. While leaving after the theft, the thief also spray-painted a message in French on the wall – ‘Sans armes sans haine et sans violence’ which means, ‘Theft without weapons, without hatred and without violence.’ It was more than a dollar. The price of which today is 110 million dollars or 900 crore Indian rupees. It is counted among the biggest robberies in the world. Photographer Albert Spazziari later pleaded guilty and was sentenced to life in prison.
