Case of Vigilance-Authenticator at Ahmedabad Airport:
The packet looked heavy even though it was empty. Due to which his belief that there is something wrong in this packet became firm. He decided to open this packet to clear the doubt. On opening this packet, another sealed packet was found neatly packed inside it. Dinesh Garwa immediately called his supervisor and customs officials. When customs officials checked the packet, 750 grams of pure gold paste was found in it. The value of this found gold is approximately Rs 55 lakh. Dinesh Garwa said, ‘I have only done my duty. I was suspicious as the wastebasket seemed too heavy.’ 750 in the trash The investigation has started in the direction of who hid 750 grams of gold in the garbage basket of the Ahmedabad airport toilet and to whom it was to be delivered and who could be involved in it. The gold hidden in the dustbin has been found by the customs department even before it reaches the hands of the person to whom it was meant to be delivered. After this incident, watch has been increased at every place where smugglers can hide gold.
Carriers are used to bring the smuggled gold. These carriers mostly bring gold from Dubai, UAE, Bangkok, Thailand. Carriers are given round-trip ticket, accommodation and meal facilities and separate commission for bringing gold. They bring gold by hiding it behind dustpans, sealed in luggage, undergarments-sanitary napkins and in private parts. Many times, if the customs watch is high, they hide the gold in the toilet of the airport, and take the gold from this place. Smugglers are constantly changing the modus operant of bringing gold.
