XX June 2026, Mumbai: The upcoming episode of Tum Ho Naa – Ghar Ki Superstar,
hosted by Rajeev Khandelwal, welcomes Bollywood’s renowned mehendi artist Veena
Nagda. As she opens up about the values instilled by her parents, her first meeting with
Kokilaben Ambani and the business advice she gave her.
Recalling one of the most memorable moments from her early journey, Veena shared how
she received an opportunity to visit the Ambani residence at a young age Veena said, “Ek
baat bataaun, meri maa ne mujhe sikhaya tha. Mujhe Ambani ke yahan ka order aaya tha,
Dhirubhai Ambani ke ghar mein jaana tha. Main chhoti thi tabhi, mera mind paise ke upar
tha hi nahi. Aapko pata hai, 7-10 rupaye se main mehendi mein aa gayi. Toh aaju-baaju
wale sab bolte the, Ambani ke ghar mein yeh lena, woh lena, yeh karna, woh karna. Par aaj
mere maa-baap, mere papa bhi strict the, toh mujhe achha lag raha hai. Uss time pe kharab
lag raha tha, par aaj mujhe aise lag raha hai ki achha hua woh strict the, toh hum unki
permission mein rehte the. Rahi meri maa ki baat, usne bola, ‘Tera jitna charge hai utna
tujhe lena hai aur tu Ambani ke ghar par ja rahi hai, tu Bhagwan ka shukriya ada kar ki tu
unke ghar pe ja rahi hai.’ Maine 25 rupaye mein do haath unke ghar mein lagaye the.”
She further revealed how Kokilaben taught her a valuable lesson about professionalism and
business. She said “Kokilaben Ambani ne tabhi mujhe pucha, ‘Aapke ghar mein phone nahi
hai, aapka card nahi hai?’ Tab mujhe pata chala. Unhone salah bhi di ki business aise hota
hai. Toh pata chala card bhi hona chahiye, yeh sab cheezein bhi honi chahiye.”
Then, when a fellow contestant asked how much she charges for it, she revealed, “Par meri
mummy ne jo mujhe bola, humare abhi bhi 350 rupaye ke do haath hain. Main kisi bade
ghar mein jaaun, chhote ghar mein jaaun, mere price same hi hain.” Adding with a smile,
Rajeev said, “Problem sirf yahi hogi, date nahi milegi aapko. Date ke liye intezaar karte raho
aap.” Later in the conversation, Veena spoke about the cultural significance of mehendi and
the importance of taking pride in one’s work. She shared, “Mehendi ek shagun jaisi cheez
hai.”
Encouraging the artists today, she further added, “Aap dekho, kaam karoge toh poori
kaynaat aapke saath ho jaati hai. Koi bolta hai, bhale mehendi jaisi chhoti cheez ho. Aap bhi
koi kaam kar rahe ho toh main aapko yahi bata rahi hoon, koi cheez chhoti-badi nahi hai.
Uss cheez ko hume bada banana hai.” Moved by her inspiring outlook and journey, Rajeev
remarked, “Kitni baar suna hai, sikha hai aur jab aise logon se milte hain, tab waqai aisa
lagta hai, haan yeh jo baat keh rahe hain, yahi haqeeqat hai.”
From charging just a few rupees for mehendi to becoming one of the most sought-after
mehendi artists in the country, Veena Nagda’s story serves as a powerful reminder that
dedication, integrity, and hard work can transform one’s destiny.
